There are more than 600 pagodas and temples in the city as well as French colonial buildings and Vietnam tours should include:

Many remain untouched by the modernisation which swept the city in the 1970s and 1980s. These buildings include the Grand Opera House, Presidential Palace (built between 1901 and 1906), State Bank of Viet nam, historic hotel Sofitel Metropole, and the Cathédrale St-Joseph.

The mausoleum is only for a few hours each day and is closed two days a week and for two months a year, so check before visiting.
